I started my career teaching 5th grade in the middle of the year. After a year and a half in a small desert town and military post, I was hired to teach 2nd grade in my hometown. Second grade taught me that 7 year olds have to be entertained every 10 minutes and, although they were sweet and talented, I yearned to go back up to 5th grade.I got my chance 3 years later and never turned back.
I read to make myself a better teacher and I am constantly learning new things to help my children learn. I am firm but my "kids" and I know how to have a good time. I love Ron Clark's Essential 55 and No More Molasses Classes books. Our classroom runs so smoothly by implementing his ideas.
