TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching 7th grade ELA in Central Texas for more than 15 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe students won't learn until they feel safe and seen, so I try hard to make connections with them. Also, writing is personal. Asking students to share their words is asking a lot, so I share mine first. I complete as many writing assignments with my students as time allows.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

- New Jersey Writing Project, 2000 - ESL Certification - I once guessed the "Mystery Baby" picture in the faculty newsletter and won a jeans pass.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BA in English from The University of Texas at Austin and am certified to teach 6th-12th grade English.
