TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 9th thru 12th Grade ELA, including:Intensive Reading, IB Literature at the Higher Level, Pre-IB 9th and 10th grade ELA Honors, AP Literature, AP Language and Composition, IB Environmental Systems and Societies, and Theory of Knowledge.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in having joyous and student led classroom where the value of words is paramount! Words carry the weight of so much of what it is to be human. They carry the beauty and the struggle, the grief and the joy, the emotion and the thoughts; all the things we need to be fundamentally together. When communities are built they rely on empathy to work-- and that empathy comes from an understanding that has to be communicated in order to exist. If communication breaks down then so does the fabric that binds us all. That is why I love to teach English; because language is essential to the success of everything.
