I've worked with students grades 1st-6th with the most experience at the 4th and 5th grade level. I have experience both with a progressive, parent-participation charter school, as well as a large public school in a district in the heart of the Silicon Valley. My teaching is constantly adjusting to both the needs of my students, as well as new research as it comes out. As a mentor teacher, I gain lesson feedback from student teachers and constantly reflect how to design instruction to meet all students. My latest professional interests are in the areas of design thinking (currently on our school's committee to design our Makerspace), Sketchnoting (visual thinking strategies), and inquiry learning (NGSS-focus especially).
I LOVE keeping learning hands-on, relevant, and engaging. Students are the main guides as we incorporate their interests, learning styles, and inquiries. I teach through guided inquiry, the workshop model for mini-lessons, and with overarching driving questions through our Project Based Learning units. Most of my lessons can be used as stand-alone, or as part of larger units. Technology plays an important role in my classroom, using videos, internet, word processing/publishing tools, iPods, iPads, laptops, projectors, SMART Board, and more. I currently have a 1 to 1 iPad classroom and constantly finding ways to make tech relevant as a tool not a toy. Most of all, I know that each teacher wants the flexibility to make their teaching their own. The last thing you need is another curriculum guide telling you how to do something that doesn't feel natural to who you are as a person. Anything you purchase from me, adapt, make your own, put your personal flair on it! That's what makes collaborative teaching so great is that or lesson ideas are constantly being reiterated and improved upon! If you come up with something cool or

I'm a 3rd generation teacher and love every minute of it! I believe in constructivist philosophy in designing learning opportunities for students to connect and build meaning through guided inquiry. Most of all, I love to learn! I continue my studies through professional development and am a learner outside the classroom by trying new things. My most recent learning has been teaching myself how to play the ukulele! Please contact me for any questions about lesson downloads before or after purchasing. I'd love to help!
