I taught third grade for nine years, but also have experience in second grade and fourth grade. Third grade is by far my favorite and the focus of my resources. I am passionate about literacy instruction, especially writing. However I love creating hands-on math lessons too.
I prefer a guided reading and writing approach to literacy instruction, combined with individualized word study and differentiated centers. I also use interactive lessons and centers in math workshop. I truly believe that students learn best when they are actively involved in their learning and we set lots of goals in our room to keep everyone moving forward. It's a good day when we learn from each other!
One of my students campaigned for me to be president. I kept the picture he made of me in the White House as proof. That's a pretty big honor. ;)
I am a proud 2004 summa cum laude graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. I majored in elementary education and minored in counseling psychology. Since then, I've completed my master's degree and earned my All-Grades Reading Specialist License through Ball State as well.
If you have any questions or want further explanation of a particular resource, please don't hesitate to ask. I want you to love them as much as I do! I'm happy to help.
