I am a second year fourth grade teacher in California!
I believe that a classroom must be a safe and inviting place in order for all students to learn. I always talk about our Room 29 Family, the importance of being good family members, and how being a kind and generous person can help you to be a happier person. I also believe that children's minds are designed to learn, but if we only present them with dry, uninteresting material, we make it so hard for them to learn. That is why, even though most of what I am selling are worksheets, I try to pick the most interesting stories and write them in a way that will capture the kiddos attention.
Yet to be added
I studied Political Science and History in University so a lot of what I do in class has that slant to it. I love that we have NGSS but the new emphasis on STEM has really squeezed out any time for Social Studies. So I figure, why not throw it in with reading comprehension, or word problems, so at least the kiddos get a little bit of exposure!
When I was young my parents divorced and we lived overseas at the time so there was no other family around. School became my sanctuary and my safe place. I seek every day to make my room a safe place for all my students. A teacher can change your life forever, as I know, and I hope to be able to carry forward just a small portion of the wisdom and love that I was so lucky to receive from my teachers growing up.
