TEACHING EXPERIENCE

While in Tampa I taught in a variety of setting within the special education field. I taught a high school community based training. This gave me the opportunity to teach individuals with a lower IQ and performance levels how to obtain and maintain a job within the community. Although they struggled in the classroom setting they thrived in the work place and have since been very successful as I follow most of them 12 years later. After leaving the high school setting I taught in a 4th and 5th grade classroom with students who were language and learning disabled. I helped improve vocabulary development while teaching multiple grade level standards. I have been a team teacher working in an inclusion and small group setting for students with learning disabilities from 2nd through 5th grade as well. After moving to Atlanta I gained my math general education license. Although continuing in the special education arena. I have been found teaching on grade level curriculum and math support to 7th and 8th graders. This is where I have created most of my material over the last 8 years. I have had the opportunity to expose my students to the Ti-NSpire world while preparing them for their high school and college years. We use Navigators in my classroom which allows me to frequently push out checks for understanding, create warm-up reviews exposing them to a different level of math understanding.
