TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 11th year teaching instrumental music. I have previously taught one year of music appreciation and loved it.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have a very energetic teaching style. I constantly walk around my classroom while teaching so that I can get a close look at what my students are succeeding and having difficulties with. You can frequently walk in on my playing any of the instruments in my classroom with my students. I have a fun, humorous personality in my classroom but am secretly an introvert. :)

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was voted Certificated Teacher of the Month in April of 2014. My wind ensemble was a finalist in a local talent show competition (the only band in the event). My groups have only received Superior or Unanimous Superior ratings at SCSBOA District Band Festivals. Recently I was asked to guest conduct the San Bernardino County Junior High Honor Band.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended UCLA and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Flute Performance and Music Education. I have a Master's Degree from the University of Redlands in Flute Performance (with an unofficial second emphasis in Music Education). I have a CA teaching credential and an Administrative Credential from the University of Redlands as well.
