For 16 years, I have been teaching and loving it! Most of my experience is in 3rd grade, but I have also taught 2nd and 4th. One thing I love about teaching is the creativity that we can bring into lesson planning. For years, I have loved creating and sharing lessons with my teammates. This year, I moved from a self contained classroom to a departmentalized team as a 3rd grade math teacher. I have LOVED focusing on math. My ideas for engaging lessons are limitless! I hope to begin sharing them with you through TpT. Math nerds unite!
I am always looking for new, exciting ways to engage my students. I see it as my job to create a love for knowledge in their young minds. I plan units using a backwards design, that focus on the end result, and incorporate engaging activities to reach that goal. I believe lessons should be easily differentiated, require students to make connections, think on higher levels, and communicate their knowledge with others.
I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2002 with a degree in multidisciplinary studies and a minor in English. I am currently pursuing my masters in curriculum and instruction from Texas A&M Commerce and plan to graduate in December 2018!
Besides teaching math, I am also a wife and mom to 2 amazing boys, Charlie and Will. My family is everything to me. We love being outdoors , spending time at our family ranch, and curling up on the couch to watch a movie.
