I have worked in private, option and public schools; I have used different curriculum sets at each one, and created supplementary materials for each as well. I've taught special education for a range of needs, including Autism, Emotional / Behavioral Disorders, ADHD, and learning disabilities. I have also taught in a gen ed 4/5 split classroom and 6th grade homeroom. Now I am back to special ed, teaching in a resource room for Social Skills at the middle school level. Teaching students on the spectrum Social Skills and 2 literacy blocks a day is a dream for me! On here I can share all the hours of time I spend fretting over having the perfect resources for my classroom. What's mine is yours! Everything I post has been successfully used in one or more of my classes.
Relationship-based, heavy SEL focus in the classroom, project and expeditionary learning - learning needs to be FUN for kiddos to want to become engaged to dive in! We are creating the future democratic citizens we want to see being helpful, not hurtful to society! Every student deserves to feel believed in, and receive all of the resources and support they need.
