TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught children aged K-12 in one capacity or another for the past six years! Currently, I teach middle school writing in Colorado. I also work as mentor for new teachers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I design lessons and learning activities to be rigorous, standards-based, and engaging for students. Each lesson reflects consideration of diverse learning profiles, the better for all students to access the material. Students are able to track and measure their progress through clear learning objectives and opportunities for practice. I encourage students to try their best, paired with the knowledge that some of the most valuable lessons are learned though making mistakes and taking risks! Community is very important to my classroom culture, and I structure most lessons around paired practice and group work. Along the way, building positive, trusting relationships remains a top priority for me as a teacher. No matter how serious the content, it is crucial to remember to have fun and value the unique gifts of each student :)

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Nothing of note, aside from kind words from students and parents, which of course mean a great deal to teachers :)
