If A is success in life, then A equals x + y + z. Work is x, y is play, and z is keeping your mouth shut. -Einstein

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught for 15 years in Henrico County in Richmond, VA. I began teaching on-level and advanced chemistry and have spent the last 8 years in AP Chemistry as well. I am a consultant for NMSI, Laying the Foundation, and have conducted many teacher training courses for them over the past 9 years. I have also written items for the ACT.

MY TEACHING STYLE

In my first year teaching, a very wise woman gave me advice that I have passed on to many: 'Be Yourself. If you're not, they will know and you will lose all credibility.' I try to run my classroom the way my life is - controlled chaos! If it's loud and they are learning, loud is okay. If they are sitting on a table, but they are learning, sitting on a table is okay. Sitting quietly and not learning is not okay. The goal is learning, and that looks different for every kid and every class.
