TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Though I am currently out of the classroom, I have 14 years of elementary teaching experience, mostly in kindergarten and first grade classrooms. I began creating resources for My Happy Place on TeachersPayTeachers in 2013. I have enjoyed being part of this community of educators.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe it is important to respect the developmental levels of young children while providing them with ample opportunity for growth and challenge. I prefer to teach with themes, nurturing curiosity in my students and allowing them to explore a new or familiar subject in depth. I also value hands-on experience, problem solving, and opportunities for strengthening fine and gross motor skills.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am honored to have been the first teacher to many of my students. I am rewarded daily by their success! I was also the 2015 Teacher of the Year at my school.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from University of Illinois, many credits toward a Masters degree, and plenty of professional development over the years!
