My name is Lisa Erwin. I have been a licensed Speech Language Pathologist since 1992. I am currently employed as a full-time school-based SLP on an elementary campus but also work part time as a home health provider. I've worked with adult individuals with developmental disabilities, at an out-patient rehab, in a Skilled Nursing Facility, supervised graduate students in their extern placement, supervised SLP-Assistants in public school, worked with interpreters to provide bilingual therapy to Spanish speaking students learning English, worked with students with disabilities ages 3-21, and supervised SLPs during their Clinical Fellowship Year. I have also taught elementary special education on a K-5 campus, co-taught in an inclusion classroom, taught early childhood in a preschool program for children with disabilities (PPCD) classroom, and provided training opportunities to educators and colleges.
I believe every minute with a child, student or client should be purposeful and positive. My instruction is intended to be meaningful, systematic, goal directed, data driven and client centered. I often tell my graduate students that "classroom teachers have students for 40 hours a week and I have them for one hour a week. What am I doing to make a difference?"

I am passionate about being a speech language pathologist. I enjoy building relationships with clients and students and opening the door to communication. Seeing the excitement on students' faces when they interact with print, helping them develop the skills needed to make and keep friends, building self-confidence, helping them overcome obstacles, and encouraging them to set and achieve educational and personal goals are part of my everyday joys.
