I have been a special education teacher for over 20 years. For most of my career I have worked with English language learners with learning and communication disabilities in New Mexico, Colorado, and Alaska. I am currently teaching in a life skills class on the Navajo Reservation in northern New Mexico. All of my students are intellectually disabled and three are on the autism spectrum.
I use a variety of approaches in teaching reading and math. I work with students individually and in small groups and run centers twice a day. I enjoy collaborating with regular education teachers and searching for and creating engaging activities for my students with special needs to use in their regular classroom.
Yet to be added
I have a master's degree in Special Education K-12 and countless more hours of additional training in reading intervention. I consider myself a life-long learner and will never stop endeavoring to improve my craft.
When I am not teaching, I am working on TpT products, blogging or reading.
