TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I discovered a love for teaching during my college days as a hands-on Teacher's Assistant for Social Science Statistics. My first paid teaching assignment was in a special needs EBD elementary classroom. I spent three years working with young students who needed patience and care more than anything else. Prepared to take on new challenges and impact students in a different way, I moved into a traditional classroom as a 7th grade science teacher. Through my 6 years in that position I have moved into the role of Science department head. I've also settled into my niche as the campus digital learning advocate. I continue to teach, grow, and learn in my role as a science teacher and tech advocate. I look forward to sharing my ideas and experiences with the TpT community.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I consider myself more of a facilitator than a teacher. To that end, my approach tends to be more student-centered. I believe that hands on science driven by inquiry increases student engagement and creates meaningful and lasting learning opportunities. I also utilize what some have called blended learning through the use of digital and traditional learning opportunities for my students.
