I started teaching in 2004. From 2006 to 2009, I taught EFL in the Czech Republic. I worked on a EU project to create a bilingual educational program for public schools in the Czech Republic. After that experience, I returned to Montreal and I have been teaching ELA and ESL since then. Because of my past experiences and my applied linguistics background, I have often been asked to structure or re-structure ESL programs at the schools where I work. I continue to research and educate myself on applied linguistics. It shines a light on how people actually learn languages; it helps us understand the struggles of the language learners; but furthermore, it helps me improve my teaching techniques and strategies.
Students have a thirst for knowledge and it is our duty as teachers to satisfy this thirst with as many challenging learning opportunities as we can. I always try to get my students to push their limits. I use my knowledge of linguistics to improve my teaching techniques and create a teaching environment and material that will maximize language acquisition.
