TEACHING EXPERIENCE

After studying Arabic and Islamic Studies for 2 years in Cairo, Egypt, then 4 years in Saudi Arabia, I returned to the US to start my own Arabic center at my home. I managed the language center for 3 years. I then landed a job teaching Arabic to non-Arabs, at al Maha Girls' Academy in Qatar, where I spent 3 years training and teaching. I participated in numerous professional workshops, developed a comprehensive curriculum for non-Arab students, while being held to the standards of the Arabic department.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that the most important primary skills in language are taking in new words and then using them right away in speaking activities. So all my worksheets, lesson plans, and eBooks I have incorporated speaking activities right after introducing new words with colorful exciting images. Once the student can speak and read the words, then I will incorporate some basic grammar. Next is reading comprehension and then listening activities. By the end of a study unit, the student should be able to use all the new words using all the skills.
