I have been an ELA teacher in a Title 1 school (with 89% of our students living in poverty) since 2011 in the state of Georgia. I have designed two interdisciplinary units (incorporating ELA, Social Studies, and Science) for 7th grade and one for 8th grade. During my first 5 years I taught with an inclusion teacher, so I have experience with a wide range of students. This is my 6th year of teaching - my first without a coteacher and my first with a gifted class.
I try to make my instruction as interactive as possible. All materials can be used with regular ed, sped, and gifted students with very few adjustments. My units incorporate group, partner, and independent activities, as well as formative and summative assessments. All materials are aligned with CCGPS.
I was runner up for Teacher of the Year in 2013.
I attended Carson Newman University and graduated with a B.A. in Middle Grades Education. I received my gifted endorsement in Spring 2016. I am starting my Master's January 2017 through Arkansas State University.
