TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught special education and general education (third grade) in Massachusetts from 2005-2013. I am currently a special education teacher in Oregon. I love teaching, especially working with special education staff and students. I love research and continually learning new strategies and methods. I have a BA in Elementary and Special Education and a M Ed. in Special Education (moderate disabilities).

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like using assertive discipline in my classroom. My philosophy is that every child can and should do well in my classroom. Students can demonstrate knowledge in a number of ways, and I encourage various methods for approaching new learning. My goal is not that my students will pass tests, but that they will grow as well-rounded learners and develop a deep love of learning. We succeed and fail as a team and our hope is to succeed each day! :)

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love the outdoors, including hiking and snowshoeing. My dog, Raven loves hiking too. My husband and I completed the 48 4,000 footers in the New Hampshire White Mountains. It was a wonderfully rewarding experience! Now we're tackling the gorgeous Cascades in Oregon.
