I have taught in 4 different school districts for the past 10 years. I recently dedicated 4 years to teaching 1st grade bilingual for Spring ISD. The first year I started teaching there, I taught one year of a mixed 2nd/3rd grade class. I’m still not sure how I managed to pull that off! Prior to moving to Spring, I was living in College Station, Texas where I taught two years of 2nd grade dual language. When I first started teaching, I was in Houston ISD, where I taught 4th and 5th grade. Although I have taught most elementary grades, I can honestly say that 1st grade has been my absolute favorite!
I love group and hands on activities. I also feel it's important to create an atmosphere where students are not afraid to express themselves.
Bilingual Teacher of the Year 2012-2013
I attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 2004.
I have been married for ten years to my wonderful and very supportive husband. We met while I was attending Texas A&M and got married two years after graduation. My husband is from India, so we were lucky enough to have two weddings. We had a beautiful, traditional Indian wedding in India then came back home to host a full-fledged Mexican-American Catholic wedding in Houston. It was an exciting and exhausting time since I was also starting a new job in a new district. Then, after 8 years, our prayers were answered and we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Our life has been completely upside down in a truly wonderful way!
