I have been teaching since 1974; this is my 42nd year! I have taught in an inner-city district, a rural/suburban district and a rural school district. Most of my time has been spent in full-day kindergarten and first grade, looping K-1 for fourteen years. I also coached Varsity Girls' Basketball during the earliest years of Title IX.
My teaching style is nature-based. I've found that most of my teaching can be done outdoors and, through much research, reading and talking with outdoor learning experts, I know my kiddos need to spend as much time as possible outside. Please visit my Facebook page: "Raising a Nature Child."
I achieved National Board Certification in 2010. I have been the recipient of our school district's Diversity Award and received The Golden Apple Award, a recognition given by one of the local television stations in our area.
I received my BS in Elementary Education in 1974 (Keuka College) and my MS in Elementary Education in 1983 (Nazareth College). I achieved National Board Certification in 2010.
