TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught and tutored various history courses at the college and high school levels for the past 11 years. I have taught AP World History, AP European History, AP United States History, Civil War History, Roman History, WWII and the Holocaust as well as prepared students for the Global and US history regents exams. Throughout my years of teaching, I have created syllabi and curricula to meet the needs of my students and to prepare them (through rigorous and thought-provoking readings) for the final examinations. With this in mind, I have also taught ESL/ELL classes in US and World history.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I firmly believe in active participation in the classroom. I developed (and continually update) interactive lessons where students can take an active role in the class. Similar to all AP classes, reading excerpts from various historical figures is a must. I have also created lessons where students can hold a debate on controversial issues and analyze works of art by walking around the classroom. I have created lessons where students can work individually, in pairs and/or in groups. I have also shown clips from movies as well as from documentaries in order to supplement the work that is being studied in the classroom. To prepare my students for the AP exams, I have created chapter multiple choice exams as well as DBQs with the revised rubrics that the College Board has issued on their website.
