TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught for two wonderful years in Detroit, Michigan. I looped with my students from 1st to 2nd grade and LOVE every minute I spend with them.

MY TEACHING STYLE

In my classroom, everything is about student ownership of learning. I teach in a low-income, high-poverty school where the majority of students are below grade level. Through honest communication and an environment that fosters dedication in partnership with empathy, my students ultimately decide for themselves what each day will be like. I recognize that most of my students bring "baggage" with them to school each day, so my only requirement is that if that baggage needs to be unpacked it is not done at the expense of others' learning.
