I have been teaching 20 years and have taught 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12 grade English, American History, Northwest History, World History, AP Psychology, Intro to Psychology and Sociology. I have certifications in both Social Studies Comprehensive and English Comprehensive as well as Life Time Certificates in History and Psychology. I also have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.
I love activities that encourage thinking out of the box, discussions, personal analysis, and a greater understanding of the subject. I want to talk to my students and engage them in the learning process.
I won a Keller Education Grant and am currently an AP Psychology reader for College Board. I have served on many curriculum committees and textbook adoption committees.
I originally graduated from Abilene Christian University with a BSEd with an emphasis in History and Psychology. I moved up to Seattle and added an English endorsement then after returning to Texas I was certified in English Comprehensive and Social Studies comprehensive. I received my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from City University while living in Seattle.
I was known as a "jack of all trades" at my school mainly because I was one of the few teachers that taught both social studies and English. I taught the levels in English for at least 4 years each and am currently teaching AP Psychology, Intro to Psychology and Sociology.
