I taught 7th and 8th grade science in Phoenix for 3 years, and 5th and 6th grade science in Chicago for 4 years. I am currently a Director of Curriculum and Instruction, writing NGSS-aligned curriculum for grades 5-8 and supporting teachers in creating NGSS aligned lesson plans for a school network.
I believe it is essential to incorporate many hands-on experiments and projects in order for students to actually participate in science, not simply memorize it.
