I have 28 years' experience in most subject areas, from grade 3 to 8. Love them all, but especially the one I am in right now.
Hands-on, creative and colourful experiences are integral to almost all my teaching. I am motivated to help students remember and comprehend their learning through diverse opportunities for processing and practising. Interactive Learning Strategies are high on my own learning to-do list and so far I can see the motto is true: "Go alone to go fast; go together to go far."
None. I don't work for stickers and I keep myself off any lists for time-based experience "prizes" as much as possible. I have a large folder full of the most touching and authentic thank you cards from students and parents, in my filing cabinet at school.
Teacher Trained at Redeemer University College from '84-'88, finished at Calvin College, Michigan, with a B.A. in '89. The best teacher training I gained was through my first year. Have taken courses, AQ's here and there. Hold CSTC and OTC as well. Parenting taught me a great deal, and still is.
I just really like creating memorable lessons that serve the needs of as many diverse students in my class, as possible. Making messes are an added bonus. At the end of the day, I hope we all feel we have reached a few higher goals.
