6+ years teaching 2nd grade ESOL. I've taught reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Taught myself java and although not an expert I can make some useful little apps.
I believe in discovery and experience, but I don't discard the use of direct instruction every now and then for specific bits of knowledge. I also don't discourage the memorization of basic facts as a tool to facilitate deeper thinking and exploration.
Math lead teacher at my school (1200+ students). Member of the leadership team for 3 years.
MBA (Masters of Business Administration) from Adolfo Ibanez University (Chile). MAT (Masters of Art in Teaching) from Jacksonville University
I am proficient on excel and a novice java programmer (I'm primeraly a teacher). If you have an idea for an excel sheet that would help with your data or classroom and would like it to be very professional, with formulas to do all the work for you and such give me as many details as possible and if viable and interesting to sell I'll make it for you and give it to you for free, then I'll sell it to other people. Same with simple software like the ones I've already posted. Give me the details of what you want and if I can do it and I think other people may like it I'll give it to you and then sell it on my page. I am originally from Chile. Moved here in 2002 and started teaching that same year, first as a teacher assistant, later as a teacher proper. I am very technology oriented and I'm teaching myself java programing right now. I enjoy writing small programs that let my students practice what we are learning in the classroom at the time. In general students love interacting with computers, even if it's not flashy, and specially if it shows a score. I also make many excel sheets for data analysis, and for presenting data.
