I have taught 4th grade for 8 years and 2nd grade for 4 years in a public school in Massachusetts. I am currently a 2nd grade teacher.
I have taught both 4th and 2nd grade over the last 12 years. At both levels, I have modeled my classroom teaching style around the Responsive Classroom approach of the Northeast Foundation for Children. With key aspects such as Morning Meeting, emphasis on both social and behavioral growth, and the creation of a positive classroom community, I feel that this is what drives my teaching style more than anything. I strive each day to encourage my students to take risks, give their very best, and be proud of who they are and what they can accomplish.
