I have been teaching for middle school, social studies for the last 17 years in the Palos Verdes Unified School District. Our district boasts some about some of the highest API scores in the state but I am mostly proud of the dynamic, engaged, and eager learners I encounter he in Palos Verdes. I have been a BTSA mentor and also on a variety of leadership and curriculum teams. I have an active Edmodo page of over 500 members, please feel free to join for engaging and enriching collaboration. http://www.edmodo.com/home#/join/691b3270a27efd99a381f73728baed83
I pride myself on being innovative, exciting and creative in my lessons. I am a student centered teacher and utilize mind-mapping and many other interactive and hands on techniques to engage students. I believe students should engage in many different types of learning experiences within a unit in order to truly grasp the knowledge we are working hard to convey to them. In my class writing, thinking, collaboration, and speaking are infused throughout the program and the common core is nothing new just a new packaging for me. :)
