TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have worked with students for over 13 years. I started off as a parent volunteer, tutor, and substitute teacher. In 2010, I graduated with honors with my Bachelors in Elementary Education, with a minor in mathematics and science. I taught kindergarten for three years, then decided I needed a change. Next I taught 7th and 8th grade mathematics at a Title I middle school. My latest adventure has challenged me the most. I am currently teaching at a small, private school, where I have a mixture of ages and abilities in my classroom. I have learned to differentiate my teaching to best meet the needs of my students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in the growth mindset model. I foster a safe environment where my students can explore and grow, learning from their mistakes. Enthusiasm is the key in my classroom - if I am excited to learn, then the students will be too. I believe in effort, not excuses, and I firmly believe that hard work always pays off.
