I have taught middle school language arts for 6 years. I also have served as a team leader, model teacher, and volleyball and track coach. I am data team and PLC certified and I was trained in Project Based Learning by High Tech High in San Diego. I have also presented at the Deeper Learning Conference at High Tech High on how to create PBL units for a large, pubic school. I have had the pleasure of publicly sharing many of my units locally, as well.


I create learning experiences that include a large amount of voice and choice for my students. My students answer real world questions and share those answers locally and globally, outside the four walls of my classroom. I learn alongside my students and guide them as they face the challenges and tough questions a project presents.


I have received the John Finnessy Innovation in Education Award from my school district for my "What is Essential" tiny house project. I have presented at Deeper Learning at High Tech High in San Diego. My projects have been featured on both local and national news outlets.


I graduated from Augustana College in 2011 with a degree in secondary education and English. I then attended Graceland University to obtain my literacy master’s degree. I completed this project in 2017.
