Nikki has been a math teacher since 2001, teaching grades 6 through 12 both in the United Kingdom and Canada. She has been a district mentor in the Greater Victoria School district since 2008 and since 2007 has worked regularly with large and small groups of teachers conducting professional development sessions and individual mentoring. She currently works in a middle school and works as a mentor with teachers in implementing conceptual/hands on learning and differentiated tasks. She also works with students in a math intervention role.
Nikki has a passion for math education and has been evolving her teaching practice by using hands-on manipulatives, pictures and focusing on conceptual understanding as well as learning through problem solving and differentiated tasks.
Nikki has also presented at larger conferences such as the Northwest Mathematics Conference, BCAMT Conferences, Tapestry and Math in Bloom.
Nikki holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and English, a Post Degree Professional Program in Secondary Education and a Masters of Arts in Leadership and Training.
