TEACHING EXPERIENCE

High school Chinese Teacher at MacArthur High School in Irving,TX Chinese class instructor at Recreation Center in Lewisville,TX Freelance Mandarin Tutor DFW

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have to admit that learning Chinese seems like a daunting task at first and what certainly doesn't help is the number of mediocre learning materials out there making it even more difficult; Thus, I make my lessons very fun and easy to grasp. Instead of feeling overwhelmed or intimidated by Chinese, my students actually become more confident, realizing it's a doable language after all.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My name is Ning Wang. I am a native Chinese speaker living in Denton, Texas and majoring in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. I’ve been tutoring Mandarin Chinese in one-on-one setting for more than eight years, and also teach Chinese at McArthur High School in Irving , Texas voluntarily. When I started touring Chinese back to 2005, there really wasn’t an established and proven way to teach Chinese to English speakers, so I pretty much had to put together a curriculum from scratch on my own. When I was doing reach and developing my method, I started doing part-time private tutoring using my curriculum. I tested my method and explanations on students to see what worked and what didn’t. They usually give me instant feedback that really helps me perfect my courses. After about five years working, studying, and getting the first-hand experience in the field, I feel pretty confident about my approach; therefore, I was thinking to myself, there were already so many great English, Spanish, French teachers in the States, but there are not nearly as many great Chinese teachers in the country. Why don’t I become a Chinese teacher and apply my teaching style to more school students? Then, I decided to get my bachelor degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. While I was taking the online classes for my major in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, I was invited to do an after-school Mandarin tutoring program at MacArthur High School in Irving Texas where I was able to apply my teaching style to a larger audience in the classroom settings.
