I have completed my 31st year of teaching. For 28 of those years, I have been in kindergarten with one of them being a kindergarten/first grade combination class. I have also taught 2nd grade as well as both reading and science in 3rd grade.
My teaching style involves bringing a love of learning to my students. I want them to come to school each day with a feeling of enthusiasm for the new things that they will learn that day. They need a variety of educational experiences to meet all their needs. I believe that we as teachers need to stay current with the world our students live in and will live in. The skills must prepare them for their future. Most importantly, I want them to be lifelong learners who are active thinkers who see outside the box as well as the obvious.
I am a clinical educator for student teachers as well as having been a mentor teacher for first year teachers. I led a professional learning community for 3 years. I have been a grade level team leader several times. I was site tech for a year and have digital educator training. I was Teacher of the Year for my school in 2005.
I have a Bachelors of Education in Kindergarten-Primary.
I am married 40 years and have two grown children - a son and a daughter. I also have 6 grandchildren. I was a Girl Scout Assistant Leader and a Boy Scout Scoutmaster.
