I have taught secondary science for over 12 years. Science courses I have taught include Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science and Marine Biology. I have also taught pre-service science teachers at the University of Hawaii and feel very fortunate to have been able to share my love of science teaching with our future educators.
I believe giving learners the opportunity to explore and engage in hands-on and relevant activities helps them construct meaningful science concepts. Taking it a step further, once students have an understanding, I think self-reflection and communication among their peers will only deepen their learning experiences.
National Board Certified Teacher, Distinguished Achievement Award - State of Hawaii Department of Education
I have a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Science and Technology from the University of Hawaii, a Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Hawaii, and a Bachelors of Science - Secondary Education, Biology from the State University of New York at Oswego.
Being a proud Navy wife, I have been fortunate to teach in six different states and to make lifelong friends from all the schools I've taught in. Currently, I'm taking a break from the classroom to raise my three kids, but because of technology, I'm still able to share my love of science education through Teachers Pay Teachers as well as writing science-related activities for children's books.
