TEACHING EXPERIENCE

8 years At-risk Alternative High School Science teacher of Biology, Physical Science, and Chemistry, followed by 13+ years International Baccalaureate Middle School Librarian/Technology Specialist.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe the materials in our library are only there to serve as accessories to our Library Lessons, and students need short, simple lessons that support classroom learning and stimulate high achievement. A school library is just a bigger classroom with a lot more stuff, so if we make students and Library Lessons our priorities, everything else about the library will fall into place: collection development, facility organization, library scheduling, library promotion and advocacy, and even professional development.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

For personal reasons I do not seek, nor do I accept, honors or awards. My teacher and librarian colleagues honor me with their trust by coming to me for ideas, tech help, and co-teaching. I do, however, get a real kick out of the moniker bestowed upon me by one of my favorite teacher friends: "Goddess of All That Is Known."

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
