I have taught middle school (6-8) English/ Language Arts for six years in two different states, Virginia and Maryland. I have also been a literacy coach as well as helped numerous teachers with strategies, activities and new units to encourage their students to succeed.
I am a very passionate English teacher. I use literature, poetry, essays, novels, anything I can to encourage students to read and obtain as much information as possible. I do believe that every student has the ability to understand what they are reading and to comprehend to the fullest the ideas, concepts, and imagination set forth in any written work. My units, activities, strategies and other materials are rich in student-inquiry, discussion questions, and higher-order thinking in order to allow students to stretch their minds and apply basic skills to the comprehension of a work.
