TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching since 2004. I planned to work with middle school students, but fell into a job teaching pre-K right out of college and quickly fell in love with early childhood! I have found my place in first grade where I can mix my love of strong academics with young and excited learners.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach using Direct Interactive Instruction. DII allows me, as the teacher, to be in control of the content and the learning that happens while also giving students the opportunity to be active participants throughout all my lessons. Students in my class are constantly talking and working together to further understanding and build upon the material I presented.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I'm just a regular hard working teacher. There's nothing that makes me any more or less important than you!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BA in Elementary Education with state endorsements in Math, Science, and Language Arts MA in Early Childhood Education

I live in Michigan with my husband and hamster. Both of whom are very understanding when I spend long hours at school and my nights talking about lesson plans!
