TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 30 years of classroom experience teaching middle and high school in a variety of subject areas including U.S. and World History, AP World History, AP Macroeconomics, AP Human Geography,math (algebra and below), reading, ESL, drafting, graphic arts, electronics, ceramics and other site based courses. I have also taught at the university level. I hold several teaching credentials including CA single subject credentials in Secondary History/Social Science and Industrial Arts/Technology Education, Math (through Algebra), Anthropology, and a CA Multiple Subjects credential. I am Nationally Board Certified in History/Social Science. In addition, I have coached business plan 5 teams to National Virtual Enterprise competition in New York. 4 of the 5 teams made it to the final round, earning 1 national title, 1 second place finish, and 2 5th place finishes.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is very hands-on and real world example rich. I'm tough, but fair. I began as an industrial arts/technology education teacher. My first year assignment was drafting, electronics and math. In the past decade my teaching focus has been Advanced Placement history. I have taught AP World History, AP Macroeconomics, and AP Human Geography. I see my strengths as teaching analytical thinking and writing.

I am extremely proud to be a 4 year Stage 4 colon cancer survivor. I have taught full time through my ongoing treatments and surgeries at UC Irvine Medical Center.
