For the past nineteen years, I have had the opportunity to learn and develop as a teacher in the number one ranked school district in the state of Florida. During my teaching experience in St. Johns County, I’ve had the opportunity to grow as a classroom teacher and have been provided with the opportunity to work with educators and community members.
I currently teach third grade. My classroom would be characterized as a cooperative learning environment in which students are actively engaged in learning across all academic areas. I use multiple teaching styles to reach students at all levels. In addition, my students are engaged in stimulating math/science learning centers that utilize manipulatives and task orientated experiences in order to reach the needs of all learners. I use a literature based integrated approach towards instructing language arts curriculum. My students enjoy how curriculum is weaved and taught through the use of various genres. I have established a classroom writing atmosphere where students are encouraged to use persuasive, expository, and narrative writing in an integrated fashion with science and social studies.
