TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have spent the past 30 years teaching math to middle school kids. The bulk of those years was spent with 6th graders. I have a lot of experience with students of an extremely wide range of abilities and have had success across multi-grade levels. I specialize in identifying areas in which students will struggle and creating assignments that will address these issues.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Lesson presentation, guided practice, assess, independent practice or cooperative work, re-assess, repeat as necessary. I believe in small incremental assessments given often, which build confidence before larger assessments. Students should learn the objective before moving on to new objectives. I believe in incorporating spiral review weekly, if not daily, throughout the year!
