I have five years working with elementary children in public school, three of which have been as a classroom teacher. My passion is teaching Bible classes and coaching for Bible competitions, which I have enjoyed doing for over 12 years. Although I have worked with children of all ages, most of my Bible class teaching experience has been with elementary-age children and adult ladies' classes.
It is important to me that my students are actively engages in the learning process. I've even been known to borrow materials used in my children's Bible classes to use in teaching ladies' classes. I tend to teach children's classes in "units," so if you visit my class, you will notice that our bulletin board is always a work-in-progress. My students create their own artwork each week to add to the bulletin board to show what they have learned and what they understood or took away from the lesson. Regardless of the age group, small and group discussion and whole group share are always encouraged. I'm also a firm believer in the importance of hands-on activities.
"I never liked Science so much until I had you as a teacher." "My child has learned so much from you this year. He has never enjoyed Science as much as he has this year." "You are the best teacher in the whole world. You give us what we need." "Everything I've learned, I learned from you."
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations. I received my teaching certification through Region 20 Education Service center.
I have been married for 17 years and am a proud mother of two very active and involved teenagers, a son and a daughter.
