I am an online ESL teacher with a major English company in China. I have taught in a traditional classroom setting for many years after leaving a very lucrative business career. I went back to school to follow my dream and passion for education. I also am able to teach my girls at home. So I am homeschooling and teaching which is the best of both worlds. I love teaching and love project based learning. I am able to create lessons that are hands on even for students online.
My project base learning skill set allows me to engage students of all ages in a fun-filled atmosphere. I can ensure that all lessons have a clear focus. My classroom is full of music, props, and sign language enables my students to be sure they understand concepts. My education philosophy is that if a child enjoys a lesson, then they want to continue to learn. If an educator instills a love of learning, then they are building an interest in exploring educational pursuits on their own. Students in my class are assigned extra assignments and vocabulary in their lesson history to build on their reading skills. As an American educator, I have access to many age appropriate articles that are grade appropriate. I have many American Lexile readers that cover relevant topics like news and history that I can share to expand a student's knowledge. By sending extra work, the students can develop their knowledge of subject matter, from the Italian Renaissance to Harry Potter; I know through conversations during class student's interest. I also believe that students based on their ages need to move. Students learn concepts better when movement is involved. Early education experts have proven that learning words and sign language at the same time helps the brain to comprehend the meaning of the word.
