TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 20 years of experience in education. I was a Teacher Assistant and Substitute Teacher for 6 years. I currently teach 2nd grade.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My style of teaching is more inquiry based. I like for students to learn by questioning, doing hands on activities, grappling with problems and finding their own solutions. At times I have to teach directly, but for the most part I like for students to formulate hypothesis.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have the honor to serve as Teacher of the Year for the 2016-2017 school year at Westarea Elementary School. I also received the Master Teaching Award for Exceeding Growth 2015-2016 school year.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I was a high school dropout due to crisis in my home. I went back to school at 18 and earned my high school diploma in 6 months. I then went on to earn an Associate's Degree and Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in School Administration. I expect to graduate December 2017 fully licensed as a School Administrator.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a single mother of 5 beautiful daughters. All of them are adults except for my 16 year old who is now in tenth grade.
