“I have never served a work as it ought to be served; my little trickle adds hardly a drop of water to the lake, and yet it doesn’t matter; there is no trickle too small.” -Madeline L’Engle from “Walking on Water.”

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

-Orchestra Director at Morton High School since 2012 -Founder of the Composers' Guild at MHS since 2012 -Conductor of the Central Illinois Concert Orchestra since 2015 -Presenter at Illinois All-State Music Conference in 2017 -Composer of "Ruth: The Musical" (premiered June 2018)

MY TEACHING STYLE

My personality is highly creative, so I strive to let my creativity flow into my classroom, and I try to use that to my advantage when it comes to inspiring students. I begin every semester with a performance of something I created/composed/wrote over the break, and I constantly try to push my students to be the most creative individuals they can possibly be. Dostoevsky wrote in his classic novel, The Idiot, that "beauty can save the world," and I believe that the beauty of music, combined with education, can accomplish that goal.
