I have taught 14 years in public education in Kenosha Unified School District. 6 of those years have been educating low SES disadvantaged students. I have team taught for 5 years while in grades 2, 4, and 5. I also have training in Personalized Learning attending conferences the past 2 years. In addition, I have had the pleasure of teaching in special education classrooms for the past 6 years including working with students with autism, LD, ED, OHI, and CD.
I use a personalized learning approach where students are taught with their unique interests and talents in mind. Guided reading groups are use daily with rotation among varying activities. Our building also uses a Guided Math focus with adherense to the Common Core standards. We have weekly collaboration about what standards we are teaching where we share resources and ideas to further enhance our achievements in learning. I am a huge advocate of use online resources such as IXL, AR, Learning Farm, and MyOn.
