I am currently in my eighth year teaching. I am teaching second grade. I have also taught both fourth and first grade. I have worked within my school on curriculum development. In addition, I am part of my district’s Technology Committee. In the past, I have also served on my district's Professional Development Committee and as the Lighthouse Coordinator for my school's Leader in Me initiative. The professional roles I have held has helped me to grow as both a teacher and an individual.
I became a teacher because I wanted kids to love school. I want school to be a place where kids learn and grow. My role is to help foster a love of learning in each one of my kids. I do this by meeting each child where they are at academically and emotionally. In addition, I bring in a lot of Kagan strategies to encourage peer-to-peer interactions. I incorporate technology into my classroom in meaningful ways. This allows me to differentiate my lessons while preparing students for their future.
