TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I graduated with my BME in 2015 and have been teaching PK-6th music and Choir in public schools for almost 3 years. I am Orff level 1 certified, an ILMEA, NafME, and ACDA member. I attend the Illinois Music Educators Conference every year (on year 5!) I also run a musical theatre camp out of my elementary classroom in the summers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I want the kids to be as active, creative, and happy as possible. I really get to know each kiddo before I focus on their grade. I like to do a lot of little assessments and activities throughout the class period to build on later. For example, every grade does solfege. Once they're in 5th and 6th grade chorus, they can sight read so easily and they don't know why - simple using the scale and saying it once each class made it so easy for them!
