I started teaching when I was in elementary school, making lesson plans for my friends and family. So I've always known I wanted to be a teacher! In college, I student taught 2nd, 4th, and 8th grade American History. After graduating, I spent a semester as a Title I resource teacher. I taught K-2 reading and 3rd grade math. I spent my first year teaching 3rd grade. Then I took some time to substitute teach and part time nanny. Now I'm a 2nd grade teacher and I love it!
Cooperative learning is extremely important! I love Kagan, and use his strategies often. I also love technology and trying new ways of teaching with my students. I think learning should be as interactive as possible, so I like to try new strategies that get kids moving and talking with peers.
